The Taraba State Government has commenced the distribution of newly acquired electricity transformers to address persistent power challenges across the state.
The distribution exercise, which began on Friday, is in response to complaints of transformer shortages, particularly in Jalingo and other urban centres.
Governor Agbu Kefas, who disclosed this in a statement on his official handle, said the initiative is part of his administration’s commitment to transforming the state’s energy sector.
“Yesterday, we commenced the distribution of newly acquired electricity transformers to enhance electricity distribution throughout the state,” the governor stated.
“This is a swift response to the metropolis’ transformer shortage complaints. Our administration remains resolute in its commitment to transforming the energy sector, and we are dedicated to achieving this objective,” he added.
Residents in affected communities have lauded the move, describing it as timely and impactful. They expressed optimism that the intervention would significantly reduce the prolonged power outages experienced in recent months.
Government officials said the distribution will continue in phases to ensure even coverage across all local government areas.
