Taraba Governor Opens Workshop to Reposition State Civil Service

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State on Wednesday inaugurated a five-day training workshop for permanent secretaries, secretaries, and directors in the state civil service, alongside an orientation programme for newly elected local government chairmen, vice-chairmen, and senior council officials.

The workshop, themed “Rebuilding the Taraba State Civil Service for Optimum Performance: Towards Achieving Effective and Efficient Service Delivery Using ICT,” is part of the administration’s drive to introduce reforms aimed at creating a responsive, efficient, and professional civil service.

Speaking at the event, Governor Kefas urged participants to fully engage with the programme to strengthen the civil service and align it with global best practices.

“Our administration is introducing far-reaching reforms to reposition the civil service, since the future of Taraba State will depend largely on a responsive, efficient, and professional civil service,” he said.

The governor said the workshop and orientation courses were designed to enhance the skills of both civil servants and local government officials, ensuring effective service delivery across the state.

Taraba State continues its efforts to modernise governance through capacity-building initiatives and the adoption of information and communication technology (ICT) in public service operations.

The governor concluded by encouraging participants to take full advantage of the training to contribute positively to the development of the state.
