Taraba Govt Orders Immediate Deboarding of Students Over Security Concerns

The Taraba State Government has directed all public and private secondary schools operating boarding facilities to immediately deboard their students following a security review of recent attacks on schools in some northern states.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, the government said the decision was approved by Governor Agbu Kefas after assessments showed that boarding students remain among the most vulnerable targets in the current wave of insecurity affecting parts of the country.

The directive, which takes immediate effect, applies to all secondary schools across the state. Principals and school proprietors have been instructed to ensure a smooth transition to day-school operations and to promptly notify parents and guardians.

While acknowledging the inconvenience the measure may pose to families, the government said the safety and protection of students must take precedence as broader security interventions continue nationwide.

The statement added that the public will be kept informed as the security situation evolves.
