Taraba Govt Partners NSDC to Boost Sugar Production

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment for investors, particularly in the agricultural and industrial sectors.

Kefas stated this on Wednesday when he received a delegation from the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

During the meeting, the governor identified Kurmi, Lau, and Ibi Local Government Areas as ideal locations for large-scale sugar cultivation and processing initiatives.

He emphasized the state government’s readiness to support investors and ensure the full development of Taraba’s agricultural potential, noting that sugar production could play a key role in boosting employment and revenue generation.

The Executive Secretary of the NSDC, Mr. Kamal Bakrin, said the council’s mission focuses on policy formulation, capacity building, and assisting investors with access to finance and land to promote the growth of the sugar industry across Nigeria.

Bakrin commended the Taraba State Government for its proactive stance and expressed the council’s willingness to collaborate on expanding sugar development projects in the state.

Also speaking, Mr. Wilking Lam of the Lee Group expressed optimism about the future of sugar production in Taraba, citing the state’s favorable soil and climate conditions for the crop.

Governor Kefas assured the delegation of his administration’s unwavering support for all genuine investors and reiterated that Taraba remains open to partnerships that would strengthen its agro-industrial base and promote sustainable development.
