The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has categorically denied allegations of providing financial support to the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Friday, TETFund’s Director of Public Affairs, Abdulmumin Oniyangi, dismissed a viral letter on social media claiming that the organization disbursed N325 million to the APC between October 2023 and October 2024.
“TETFund is aware of a letter purportedly written by Mrs. Patricia Yakubu, the Woman Leader of the Adamawa APC, alleging that the party received funds from us. We wish to state unequivocally that the claim is preposterous, false, and without evidence,” Oniyangi said.
He further clarified that General Murtala Mohammed College (GMMC), Yola, where TETFund contracts were allegedly sold, is not a beneficiary of the Fund. Similarly, while the Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola is a TETFund beneficiary, it independently manages its contractors in accordance with the Fund’s policy.
Oniyangi condemned what he described as “baseless allegations” aimed at tarnishing the organization’s reputation, adding that TETFund remains committed to its statutory role of rehabilitating and improving tertiary education in Nigeria.
“TETFund has consistently delivered on its mandate under various administrations, and with renewed vigor under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We urge detractors to verify their facts before misleading the public,” he concluded.
