TETFund Lauds Tinubu’s Administration for Speedy Approval of Funding Support

The Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Mr Sonny Echono, has appreciated President Bola Tinubu’s administration for the speedy approval of funding support for the development of tertiary education in the country.

Echono stated this on Thursday in Yola at the 2025 TETFund Management Retreat with the theme, “Advancing TETFund Mandate for Efficient Service Delivery in Beneficiary Institutions.”

He said that under President Tinubu’s administration, approvals for intervention funds had been granted promptly, enabling TETFund to effectively plan and implement its programmes across beneficiary institutions.

“As I am speaking, even the 2026 intervention guidelines have been approved by Mr President, so we are ready to hit the ground running.

“That is why we are here to work out a strategy for effective implementation,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, expressed appreciation for TETFund’s interventions, noting that many tertiary institutions would have collapsed without the Fund’s support.

According to him, TETFund funding has been critical to infrastructural and academic development in institutions across the country.

Umar appealed to the Fund to further assist institutions in addressing challenges related to road infrastructure and security, particularly the kidnapping of lecturers.

Similarly, the Provost of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, Mr Mohammed Dagereji, thanked TETFund for its sustained interventions and appealed for additional support in the areas of security, power supply and internet services.

Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Prof. Augustine Clement, commended the management of TETFund for organising the retreat and assured the Fund that beneficiary institutions would continue to make judicious use of allocated resources.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the TETFund executive secretary also inaugurated some TETFund-sponsored projects at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, during the retreat.
