Theatre Commander Hosts Troops to Dinner, Commends Operational Posture

Major General Waidi Shaibu, Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, hosted a dinner for troops on Thursday, July 18, 2024, to appreciate their resilience and professionalism in the fight against insurgency in the Northeast region.

The dinner, held at the Army Officers’ Mess and Suites, aimed to create a relaxing atmosphere for troops to unwind and be recognized for their efforts. General Shaibu commended the troops for their steadfastness and bravery, which have earned Operation HADIN KAI commendations from Army Headquarters.

During the event, three Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) received offer letters for fully paid three-bedroom flats under the Affordable Housing Ownership Option for All (AHOOA) Soldiers Scheme. The scheme, a home-grown housing program, aims to provide soldiers with affordable housing after their service.

Earlier in the day, General Shaibu held a Mid-Year Durbar with troops, addressing security, discipline, welfare, comradeship, and warrior ethos. He emphasized the importance of SNCOs and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) in grooming soldiers for tasks ahead and benefiting the Nigerian Army.

The Theatre Commander assured troops that their suggestions and observations would be implemented and urged them to prepare for wet season operations in the region. The troops, drawn from all sectors of Operation HADIN KAI, expressed delight and commitment to continuing their efforts against Boko Haram Terrorists and their counterparts.
