Thugs Attack Journalists During Village Head Election In Adamawa

On Wednesday, thugs suspected to be loyalists of a village head contestant attacked a journalist, Abdulganiyu Nuhu, from State Broadcast Radio, at the Mubi Emirates Council during the Pakka village head election.

The journalist was on duty, covering the election exercise, when he was attacked by the hoodlums at the Emirates premises. The thugs, led by Yahya Ahmadu (aka Konsi) and Adamu Rufa’u (aka Mome), are believed to be supporters of contestant Aminu Mahammadu Pakka.

The incident occurred shortly after the electoral committee removed the names of 5 out of 12 authentic voters, who are resident leaders of Pakka village, from the voter list. The removed voters had been identified with an Emirates Council approval letter and resident leader identification.

When the journalist attempted to investigate the matter by conducting interviews with the affected resident leaders, the thugs directed him to stop the interview. When he refused, the attack began.
