President Bola Tinubu has approved the continuation of the Kolmani oil drilling project located between Bauchi and Gombe states.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, through his Special Adviser on Media, Nneamaka Okafo.
According to the minister, the President also directed the immediate issuance of all outstanding licenses required for the continuation of the project.
“The Nigerian government has already established an oil and gas research centre in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State to ensure the sustainability and success of the project’s continuation,” the statement read.
The Kolmani oil drilling project was inaugurated in November 2022 and marked the beginning of crude oil exploration in northern Nigeria.
The project is expected to boost economic activities in the region and expand Nigeria’s oil production footprint beyond the Niger Delta.
