President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the green light for the immediate reconstruction of the Wagga-Madagali Bridge, which connects Adamawa and Borno States in the North-east region of Nigeria.
The bridge was severely damaged by a massive flood, disrupting transportation and economic activities in the area.
Mohammed Goni Alkali, Managing Director/CEO of the North East Development Commission, announced the President’s approval during an assessment tour of the bridge on Monday.
He was accompanied by Abdulsalam Y. Ahmed, Executive Director (Operations), and other management staff of the Commission.
While reconstruction work may not commence immediately due to the ongoing rainy season, alternative solutions will be implemented to facilitate easy movement of vehicles on the road. This move aims to alleviate the suffering of commuters and restore economic activities in the region.
