President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Saturday, June 28, depart Abuja for a two-nation official visit to Saint Lucia and Brazil, according to a statement by Presidential spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

The visit to Saint Lucia is at the invitation of the government of the Caribbean nation as part of efforts to deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic engagements with countries in the Caribbean region.

During the state visit, President Tinubu is scheduled to address a special joint session of the Saint Lucian Senate and House of Assembly at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, Sandals Grande, Gros Islet. The event will be attended by Heads of Government of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), members of the diplomatic corps, Nigerian nationals in Saint Lucia, and the Director-General of OECS, Dr. Didacus Jules.

The President will also hold a high-level working luncheon with OECS leaders and visit the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Castries to strengthen educational cooperation and academic exchange between Nigeria and the Caribbean.

Following the Saint Lucia visit, President Tinubu will proceed to Brazil where he will participate in the 17th Summit of BRICS, scheduled to hold from July 6 to 7 in Rio de Janeiro.

The summit, themed “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance,” will bring together member states and partner countries to discuss global development priorities with a focus on social, economic, and environmental cooperation.

President Tinubu will attend the summit in line with Nigeria’s status as a BRICS partner country, alongside African member states such as South Africa, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
