Tragedy Hits Zulum Loyalist After Facebook Video Criticising Inactive Officials

A political supporter and social media commentator, Zannah Jaridamawa Bornoye, has been thrown into mourning after discovering the lifeless bodies of his two children and a neighbour’s son in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Jaridamawa, a known supporter of Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum, made the announcement in a deeply emotional message after the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.

According to him, the children were abducted while playing in front of his residence before daybreak.

He explained that a young boy from the neighbourhood witnessed a man stop in front of their gate with a vehicle and allegedly lure the children by offering sadaka (charity). The suspect reportedly called them to come forward and then drove away with them.

The victims were later found dead under undisclosed circumstances.

The deceased have been identified as:

Mama, a 14-year-old girl, last seen wearing a pink dress;

Anwar, a 28-month-old boy dressed in green shadda;

A neighbour’s son, whose identity was not immediately disclosed.

The incident occurred shortly after Jaridamawa published a Facebook video in which he challenged inactive political office holders who, according to him, have failed to contribute meaningfully to the administration of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State.

Jaridamawa, who has been vocal in his support for Governor Zulum’s developmental agenda, expressed deep pain and called on Nigerians to pray for his family.

“I miss my two children. They were just playing in front of our gate. Please, I need prayers from anyone. I found their dead bodies this morning,” he said.

Security agencies in Borno State have yet to issue an official statement, but sources within the community said investigations are ongoing.

Local residents have condemned the act and called on the government and security forces to take urgent steps to ensure the safety of children in the area.
