Troops Ambush Boko Haram, Rescue 38 Family Members In Borno Operations

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed seven terrorists and rescued 38 family members of insurgents in coordinated operations in Borno State.

The Nigerian Army, in a statement on Saturday, said the operations were carried out by the 24 Task Force Brigade in Dikwa and the 21 Special Armoured Brigade in Bama, with support from Hybrid Forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

According to military sources, troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade ambushed fleeing Boko Haram fighters at Koibe village in Dikwa Local Government Area in the early hours of Friday.

The ambush, conducted around 2:30 a.m. as part of Operation Desert Sanity IV, led to a brief gun duel during which the insurgents retreated toward the Boboshe axis with suspected injuries.

During a subsequent exploitation mission, troops discovered two freshly dug graves in Boboshe containing the bodies of neutralised terrorists.

However, while attempting to recover the bodies around 11:00 a.m., troops came under fire from remaining insurgents. The soldiers responded with superior firepower and pursued the attackers toward the Gargash area.

In a separate operation on May 8, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade carried out a clearance operation in the Geizua area of Bama Local Government Area.

A military source told our Correspondent that the troops advanced from their harbour position around 8:00 a.m., clearing multiple terrorist hideouts in the Shehutari and Churchur axis.

Five terrorists were killed during the encounter, while 38 persons identified as family members of the insurgents—comprising 17 adult females and 21 children—were rescued and taken into custody for profiling.

The Nigerian Army said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to eliminate remnants of terrorist groups and restore peace to the North-East region.
