Troops Neutralise 24 Insurgents, Recover Weapons In North-East Operations

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralised 24 Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents in a series of offensive operations conducted between July 4 and July 9, 2025, in the North-East.

Capt. Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command, OPHK, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Maiduguri.

Kovangiya said the operations, which were supported by the Air Component of OPHK, as well as members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and hunters, led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, motorcycles, food items and other logistics.

He said the operations began on July 4 when troops ambushed terrorists riding bicycles from Sambisa Forest towards the Timbuktu Triangle at Platari, neutralising three insurgents.

“Similarly, troops neutralised one terrorist in an ambush at Komala general area after receiving intelligence on their movements.

“Troops recovered motorcycles, spare parts, knapsack sprayers, pesticides and food items in the area,” he said.

Kovangiya said that troops also conducted a night ambush at Kawuri in Konduga Local Government Area, where they killed two insurgents transporting logistics.

According to him, packets of salt, food seasoning, detergents and other items were recovered during the operation.

He said on July 5, troops intercepted terrorists attempting to infiltrate Madarari Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Konduga, killing one insurgent and recovering ammunition.

Kovangiya said troops also killed three insurgents during a fighting patrol to Leno Kura and continued clearance of the area.

On July 6, he said, troops ambushed insurgents at suspected crossing points along Ngoshe-Gava, Ngoshe-Ashigashiya and Amuda-Gava routes, killing one terrorist.

He said on July 7, troops ambushed terrorists near Sabsawa village, neutralising two insurgents and recovering bicycles, slippers, torchlights, batteries, detergents, salt, rubber shoes and other items.

Kovangiya further disclosed that troops, alongside CJTF, conducted clearance operations at Bula Marwa on July 8, killing one insurgent, recovering weapons and destroying terrorist camps.

“In another operation at Pambula village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa, troops killed one insurgent and recovered four motorcycles and a weapon.

“On July 9, troops, in joint operations with CJTF, cleared terrorist enclaves at Tangalanga and Bula Marwa, killing three insurgents.

“Six AK-47 rifles, 47 magazines and 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered, while their camps were destroyed,” he said.

Kovangiya said troops also neutralised six insurgents during coordinated ambushes at Ngailda, Manjim and Wulle villages, recovering motorcycles and bicycles.

He said the series of successful operations underscored the determination and synergy among security forces to end terrorism and restore peace in the North-East.
