Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralised terrorists, foiled planned attacks and disrupted logistics networks during sustained operations across the theatre between March 31 and April 4.
This is contained in a statement issued by Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation HADIN KAI.
Uba said troops under Sector 2, deployed at Geidam in Yobe State, in collaboration with operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged suspected terrorist logistics suppliers near Geidam following credible intelligence.
He said three terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while a logistics-laden vehicle was disabled.
Items recovered from the scene included food supplies, mobile phones and other materials believed to be intended for terrorist camps.
According to him, troops also ambushed insurgents attempting to plant Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Konduga–Kawuri axis in Borno State, where decisive firepower triggered an explosion that neutralised two terrorists.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered during the follow-up operation, while troops later discovered and safely detonated another IED planted along the Ngoshe–Pulka road to prevent casualties and ensure safe movement.
Uba further disclosed that troops recorded notable successes in Adamawa State, particularly in Mubi North Local Government Area, where Sector 4 troops working with local hunters arrested three suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP members.
Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects had earlier gathered intelligence on troop locations and activities and confessed to participating in a recent attack in which insurgents suffered heavy casualties.
He added that all arrested suspects were currently in custody for further investigation.
In another operation, troops at Mainok market arrested three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and recovered livestock, mobile phones and cash, further weakening supply chains supporting insurgent operations.
The spokesman also said troops intercepted a vehicle conveying suspected terrorist elements in Yobe State, where two occupants were found with gunshot wounds believed to be linked to earlier engagements with troops.
He noted that the suspects, alongside recovered communication devices, were in custody for further investigation.
Uba said further operations across the theatre led to the arrest of informants and collaborators attempting to cross into neighbouring areas, as well as the apprehension of a foreign national at a checkpoint under suspicious circumstances.
He added that troops had maintained aggressive operations within their area of responsibility, denying criminal elements freedom of action.
“The Military High Command commends the troops for their resilience, vigilance and professionalism, and urges them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations in the security and economic interest of the North-East region,” he said.
