Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Foil Suicide Bombing in North East — Military

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East, have successfully repelled multiple terrorist attacks and neutralised several threats across Borno and Adamawa States between October 25 and 31, 2025.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East (OPHK), in Maiduguri.

According to the statement, the troops foiled a series of coordinated attacks, including an attempted suicide bombing in Kukawa, an ambush in the Gwoza–Limankara area, and the interception of terrorist logistics networks.

On October 25, troops prevented an attempt by terrorists to force their way into Kukawa Town using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED). The troops engaged the vehicle with rocket-propelled grenades before a T-55 tank neutralised it, averting what could have been a devastating explosion. A 10-year-old civilian girl sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.

In separate operations, troops in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) discovered and safely disposed of three improvised explosive devices along the Dikwa–Ajiri axis, preventing sabotage on major supply routes.

On October 29, soldiers of 192 Battalion, working with CJTF, ambushed and neutralised two terrorists in the Mandara Mountain area. Items recovered from the scene confirmed the continued use of bicycles and food supplies by the insurgents.

Similarly, troops of 202 Battalion, supported by members of the Volunteer Force, conducted a night ambush on October 30 along the Bama–Konduga supply route, engaging terrorists attempting to cross from the Gezuwa axis toward Sambisa Forest. The insurgents fled after coming under intense fire.

In Adamawa State, troops of 232 Battalion intercepted a drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and two motorcycles used for illegal smuggling at Fillin Ball and Sebore in Mubi South Local Government Area. The smugglers abandoned the items and fled, while the seized products remain under investigation.

Also, troops of 144 Battalion and Sector 4 Special Forces, supported by Hybrid Forces and local hunters, arrested five suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP members in Sabon Gari, Madagali Local Government Area, following credible intelligence. Items recovered included a desert camouflage uniform, live ammunition, and 50 wraps of Indian hemp.

Uba added that the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai provided critical support, conducting precision airstrikes and reconnaissance missions that aided ground operations.

A follow-up operation on October 31 near Sambisa Forest led to the recovery of one terrorist’s body, an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition, 90 rounds of 7.62mm linked ammunition, and four bicycles. No troop casualty was recorded.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, reaffirming the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring lasting peace in the North East.

It said ongoing operations would continue to focus on dismantling terrorist cells, cutting off their supply networks, and safeguarding vulnerable communities.
