Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised 10 terrorists and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a coordinated night operation along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.
That the operation, carried out by Sector 1 troops under the 24 Task Force Brigade, was launched late Saturday night to forestall an attempted infiltration by terrorists from the Flatari axis into Gamboru Ngala.
According to the source, the insurgents, after suffering heavy losses in Gamboru, attempted to regroup and divert toward Dikwa but were ambushed and taken by surprise along the Dikwa–Marte route.
“Following intense and accurate firepower from the troops, the terrorists were forced to retreat in disarray. At dawn, a clearance operation confirmed that 10 terrorists had been eliminated,” the source said.
Recovered items from the operation included five AK-47 rifles, a PKT machine gun, locally made firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, motorcycles, bicycles, a radio communication device, and various personal effects.
The operation follows an earlier engagement around Katarko, where troops reportedly eliminated over 50 insurgents and dismantled their logistics base.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their bravery, vigilance, and tactical proficiency, reaffirming its commitment to intensifying counter-insurgency operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability in the North-East region.
