Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram (Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad) and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Bitta community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attempted infiltration occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2025, with terrorists advancing from the Damboa axis. According to military sources, the insurgents briefly breached the defensive perimeter but were swiftly overpowered after a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The operation led to the neutralization of several terrorists and the recovery of multiple AK-47 rifles. No casualties were recorded among the troops, who demonstrated high-level combat coordination and tactical resilience.
In the aftermath of the failed attack, the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, accompanied by senior military commanders, visited Bitta on July 28 to assess the security situation. He directed the immediate remobilization and fortification of the area to forestall future incursions.
Military authorities say the general security situation in Bitta remains calm but unpredictable, while the morale and operational readiness of troops remain high.
Operation HADIN KAI continues to intensify counterinsurgency efforts in the North-East region, with renewed emphasis on community protection, intelligence gathering, and proactive strike operations against terrorist strongholds.
