Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have sustained logistics strangulation operations across the theatre, recovering ₦37 million suspected to be linked to terrorist financing.
The development followed recent defensive engagements in Pulka and Madara-Girau, as troops transitioned into deliberate operations aimed at crippling terrorist supply and sustainment networks.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Media Information Officer, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, the operations were designed to deny terrorists freedom of movement and dismantle their supply and financing architecture.
He said on Feb. 16, troops of Sector 1, in conjunction with vigilante forces, executed a night ambush along a known crossing route frequently used by ISWAP elements transiting from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria.
The terrorists, unaware of the concealed deployment of troops, reportedly ran into effective fire and were forced to withdraw.
Uba said subsequent exploitation of the contact area led to the recovery of a cache of logistics supplies believed to be intended for terrorist resupply operations.
He noted that the interception significantly disrupted the terrorists’ sustainment capacity and operational reach in the area, adding that troops remained in control and were conducting further exploitation operations.
In a related development, troops at the Forward Operating Base, Chabbal Checkpoint, intercepted a suspicious vehicle conveying five occupants.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of about ₦37 million concealed in bags, alongside multiple mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist financing and coordination activities.
The military described the interception as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial conduits supporting terrorist logistics and operations within the theatre.
Uba said the coordinated actions demonstrated a proactive strategy of tightening pressure on terrorist supply chains by targeting both physical movement corridors and financial enablers.
He added that the Military High Command had commended the vigilance, professionalism and resilience of the troops and collaborating security agencies.
Operation HADIN KAI, he said, remained resolute in its mandate to frustrate terrorist activities and restore lasting peace and economic stability across the North-East.
