Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a terrorist attack in Wulgo, Borno State, eliminating several fighters, including two senior commanders of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Military sources confirmed on Friday that the neutralized commanders were identified as Abu Nazir, the Munzir of Juye, and Abu Fatima, the Munzir of Koloram.
The encounter followed an attempted infiltration by the terrorists, which led to an intense exchange of fire. Several of the insurgents were severely wounded during the clash.
Troops also recovered four motorcycles belonging to the terrorists after the operation.
Security analysts say the elimination of the commanders is a major setback for ISWAP’s operational capability in the Lake Chad region.
