Troops Repel Terrorist Attacks on Azir Bridge, Banki

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have foiled attempted terrorist attacks on their positions at Azir Bridge and Banki in Borno.

The incidents occurred in the early hours of Friday when terrorists reportedly advanced in large numbers in an attempt to overrun the troops’ locations at Azir Bridge in Sector 2 and Banki in Sector 1.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, the attackers were met with swift resistance from vigilant troops who launched coordinated spoiling attacks that disrupted their formations.

Uba said the troops demonstrated strong tactical awareness and combat readiness, forcing the terrorists into disarray and preventing them from breaching the defensive positions.

He added that the operations were reinforced by effective close air support from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, which played a key role in repelling the attackers.

The military spokesman noted that the failed assaults contradicted what he described as misleading propaganda and false reports circulating on some online platforms.

“Troops remain firmly in control of the locations and continue to dominate the operational environment with high morale, decisive firepower and sustained offensive action against terrorist elements,” he said.

Uba reassured residents that the Joint Task Force remained resolute in its commitment to defeating terrorist threats across the theatre of operations and restoring lasting peace to the North-East region.
