
Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Ali Adamu, in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State, as part of ongoing operations under the codename Operation Lafiya Nakowa.
The rescue operation, conducted on Wednesday, followed a distress call received by the troops deployed in Lau, reporting the abduction of Alhaji Adamu, who was kidnapped while sleeping outside his compound.
According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lt. Umar Muhammad, the troops immediately mobilized and pursued the kidnappers. On sensing the troops’ approach, the abductors fled into nearby bushes, abandoning the victim, who was later rescued unharmed and reunited with his family without any ransom paid.
In a related development, local vigilantes and hunters on patrol around Maraban Kunini in the early hours of the same day apprehended a suspected kidnapper identified as Mr. Lalau Adamu, aged 30, who was allegedly involved in the abduction.
Lt. Muhammad explained that the suspect sustained injuries from mob action before the arrival of the troops. He was evacuated under military protection to a medical facility for treatment while investigations are ongoing.
The Commander, 6 Brigade / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brig.-Gen. Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops, vigilantes, and local hunters for their swift response and coordination, which led to the successful rescue.
He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across Taraba State.
The statement reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and ridding the state of criminal elements threatening public safety.
