Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have dismantled a suicide bombing network and intercepted suspected terrorists’ logistics during intensified security operations in Adamawa State.
The military operation followed sustained surveillance and intelligence-led cordon-and-search activities targeting those responsible for the Gamboru Market Mosque suicide bombing.
In the early hours of January 5, 2026, OPHK troops conducted a coordinated operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of eight suspects.
Among those apprehended were two principal suspects identified as key facilitators within the suicide bombing network. A search of the residence where the suspects were arrested resulted in the recovery of cash, mobile phones, identification documents, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, jewellery and other personal items. The recovered items are currently undergoing forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations.
Military sources disclosed that during identification procedures, a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as individuals who supplied materials used in the preparation of the improvised explosive device (IED). Other occupants of the residence were also linked to the network.
All suspects are presently in military custody and undergoing detailed interrogation to enable further intelligence gathering before being handed over for continued investigation.
In a related operation, OPHK troops on January 4, 2026 intercepted a large cache of suspected terrorists’ logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The troops seized 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), estimated at about 1,125 litres, believed to have been smuggled to support terrorist activities.
The suppliers reportedly fled on sighting the troops, abandoning the petroleum products, which have since been secured by the military. No casualties were recorded during the operation.
The military said the successful operations underscore OPHK’s determination to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt their logistics and supply chains, and prevent future attacks across the North East.
The Joint Task Force Headquarters urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies, noting that public support remains critical to sustaining peace and security in the region.
