Troops Sustain Offensive Operations, Neutralise Terrorists, Record Surrenders in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have sustained coordinated offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements across Borno State, recording significant successes, including the neutralisation of terrorists, destruction of enclaves and the surrender of fighters.

The military disclosed that under Operation DESERT SANITY V, sustained pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on January 10, 2026, compelled 11 terrorist fighters to surrender. The surrendered fighters reportedly laid down their arms alongside AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.

Earlier, on January 9, troops conducted extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, targeting active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile.

Among the locations dismantled were camps linked to notorious terrorist commanders identified as Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed.

During the operations, troops destroyed several life-support and logistics structures used by the terrorists, significantly degrading their operational capacity.

Items recovered included terrorist flags, weapons and ammunition magazines. Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee, leading to the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.

In a related operation based on credible intelligence, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, resulting in the neutralisation of eight terrorists and the recovery of AK-47 rifles.

The military also confirmed the arrest of two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State for allegedly supplying logistics to terrorist groups.

According to the military, troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive pressure, dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North East region.
