Troops Uncover Fuel Supply Network for Insurgents in Maiduguri

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered a major fuel supply operation allegedly intended for Boko Haram terrorists in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The operation, carried out on Monday, led to the discovery of over 500 jerrycans being filled with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at Hadiza and Sadiq Filling Station in the metropolis.

Military sources told our correspondentthat the fuel was being transported to insurgents operating in the Gwoza axis and parts of Cameroon.

According to the sources, the discovery followed sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance on black-market fuel dealers in the area.

“The suspects were caught red-handed while loading the jerrycans. Several of them were arrested at the scene,” the source said.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were transporting the products toward Pulka and across the border, where terrorists from the Ali Ngulde faction are active.”

The suspects reportedly claimed ignorance of the final recipients of the fuel, stating that individuals from various destinations collect the products after delivery.

Security operatives have intensified efforts to dismantle logistics networks aiding insurgents in the North-East.

The military has warned that collaboration with terrorist groups, either through supply of materials or information, constitutes a criminal offence and will be met with the full force of the law.
