Troops Uncover Massive IED Cache on Marte–Dikwa Bridge in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have uncovered a large cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the strategic Marte–Dikwa Bridge in Borno State.

The discovery was made during a targeted clearance operation by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams deployed from the Forward Operating Bases in Marte and Dikwa.

In a statement on Friday, the military said a total of 56 fully prepared IEDs were safely recovered from the location, while controlled procedures are ongoing to neutralize the remaining devices for safe recovery and disposal.

The successful operation, according to the statement, has averted a major disaster, potentially saving lives and preserving critical infrastructure within the North East region.

“This operation reaffirms the vigilance, professionalism, and commitment of Nigerian troops in ensuring the safety of civilian populations and protecting key infrastructure in the theatre of operations,” the statement read.

Military authorities commended the cooperation between troops and local security volunteers, noting that such synergy remains critical in the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
