Two Arrested as Police Recover Arms in Renewed Lamurde Communal Clash

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered arms and other items following a renewed communal conflict in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

The clash, which reportedly involved Bachama and Chobo communities, led to the killing of three women who were attacked while working on their farm around Tigno village on Friday, January 3, 2026.

According to police sources, the victims were allegedly assaulted by some Bachama youths during the incident, which triggered swift intervention by security operatives.
Following credible intelligence, police operatives arrested two suspects identified as William Joshua (30) and Ezekiel Luka (23), both residents of Tigno village, Lamurde LGA.

Preliminary investigations led to the recovery of 29 rounds of live ammunition, one AK-47 rifle magazine, ₦90,000 cash, and other items believed to be connected to the violence.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), appealed to residents of Lamurde and surrounding communities to remain calm, assuring that the Command is committed to bringing all perpetrators and their sponsors to justice.

He noted that the arrested suspects are currently in custody and are cooperating with investigators, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other individuals linked to the attack.

The Police Command reiterated its warning against taking the law into one’s hands and urged community leaders to support peace-building efforts to prevent further loss of lives and property.
