Two Arrested For Brutal Killing Of Police Inspector In Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with the brutal killing of Police Inspector Ibrahim Maizabuwa, attached to the Gombe State Police Command.

The suspects, Ezekiel Kefas (67) and Stephen Zabadi (44), both residents of Wamsa Suwa village, Lamurde Local Government Area, were arrested on November 19, 2024.

According to a statement from the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the suspects conspired to murder the victim on November 11, 2024.

Inspector Maizabuwa had visited Wamsa Suwa village to recover three cows he had lent to Kefas to assist in farming activities. The suspects reportedly isolated the officer, killed him, and buried his remains in a shallow grave within the village.

The incident came to light after the victim’s son, Danlami Ibrahim Maizabuwa, reported the matter to the police on November 19, 2024. Following the complaint, detectives from the Anti-Homicide Unit launched an investigation. The suspects later led the officers to the grave where Inspector Maizabuwa’s body was buried. The corpse was exhumed and has been taken for autopsy.

Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris condemned the killing in the strongest terms, describing it as a cruel and barbaric act. He assured the public of the command’s commitment to apprehending the remaining three suspects still at large and ensuring diligent prosecution.

The CP has also deployed additional security to Wamsa Suwa village to maintain peace and support ongoing investigations.

The Adamawa State Police Command has urged members of the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects. The command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring justice for the slain officer.
