Two Taraba Senators Defect to APC

Two senators from Taraba State on Wednesday defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing political developments within their former party.

The lawmakers are Sen. Haruna Manu, representing Taraba Central, and Sen. Shuaibu Lau, representing Taraba North.

Their decisions were conveyed in separate letters read on the floor of the Senate, formally announcing their resignation from the PDP and their decision to join the APC.

The senators said their defection followed extensive consultations and careful consideration of the interests and aspirations of their constituents.

According to them, the move was aimed at positioning them to better serve the people they represent, adding that the APC provides a platform more aligned with their vision and developmental objectives.

They expressed confidence that their new political affiliation would enhance their capacity to effectively advance the interests of their constituencies.

The defections further alter the party composition in the Senate, as the APC continues to consolidate its presence in the National Assembly.
