Apply: UMTH Announces Large-Scale Recruitment Across Medical and Administrative Cadres

The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) has announced the commencement of a major recruitment exercise for qualified professionals across clinical, technical, and administrative departments, as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve manpower capacity in the institution.

The recruitment, which opened on November 20, 2025, covers more than 30 specialised and general positions, ranging from consultants and medical officers to engineers, record officers, and health technicians.

In a vacancy notice signed by the hospital’s management and sighted on Thursday in Maiduguri, the institution urged interested and eligible candidates to submit applications through its online recruitment portal on or before the closing date of January 27, 2026.

According to the announcement, UMTH is seeking consultants in Surgery, Anaesthesia, and Oncology, with applicants required to possess Fellowship qualifications from recognised postgraduate medical colleges, in addition to full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

The notice further indicated multiple openings for Registrars, Dental Officers, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Radiographers, Medical Laboratory Scientists, and various categories of nursing staff. Applicants for these positions must have completed relevant internships and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme or present exemption certificates.

The recruitment drive also extends to non-clinical departments, including positions for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Environmental Engineers, Administrative Officers, Accountants, Scientific Officers, Information Officers, Programmers, and Planning Officers.

“The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital is committed to enhancing its service delivery through the attraction of competent, professional, and dedicated personnel,” the statement said.

For the technical and allied health units, positions advertised include Health Records Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Dental Technicians, Community Health Technicians, and Environmental Health Officers. Each role requires registration with the appropriate regulatory council and possession of a valid practising license.

The hospital emphasised that all applicants must upload their application letters, curriculum vitae, and credentials as a single PDF document during the online submission process.

“This recruitment exercise is part of UMTH’s ongoing institutional strengthening aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare services for communities in Borno State and the North-East,” the notice added.
