UNIMAID Vice Chancellor Raises Concerns, Alleges Fraud In IPPIS

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Aliyu Shugaba

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Aliyu Shugaba, accused the government’s Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), of including individuals with no affiliation to the university while legitimate lecturers face salary delays.

The VC made the allegation on Friday while speaking exclusively on Channels TV Hard Copy.

Shugaba claimed that despite federal government directives, the university still receives payments through IPPIS.

“People who have come for verification recently, the university doesn’t even know about them. Where were you? One person simply said he was in Lagos. What are you doing in Lagos yet your name is on the payroll of the university? So at last, the candidate finally reveals that he is one of the candidates of the Former Accountant General or so.” Shugaba said.

The Vice Chancellor further disclosed that the university management discovered these irregularities during the recent verification exercise conducted by the institution.

He also affirms that instead of the IPPIS to now become something to varify the actual number of lecturers and pay them correctly, it now becomes a system where people’s names were infuse into the system, and then those people were getting salaries for nothing.
