VP Shettima Visits Maiduguri, Condoles Army, Borno Over Fresh Attack

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, on Saturday paid a condolence visit to Maiduguri following a recent attack that claimed the life of a senior military officer and other personnel.

Shettima, who visited on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, condoled with the Nigerian Army and the Borno State Government over the incident, which led to the death of Brig.-Gen. Oseni Braimah and several officers and soldiers.

The Vice President described the fallen officers as heroes who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation, noting that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

“These men wore the uniform for all of us. They stood to protect our communities, our families, and the future of our children. Their courage reminds us that peace and security often come at a very heavy cost,” Shettima said.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces in ongoing operations, assuring that efforts to combat criminal elements across the country would be intensified.

Shettima further assured military personnel of sustained operational support, stressing that criminal elements would have no hiding place under the administration of President Tinubu.

The condolence visit underscores the Federal Government’s renewed resolve to strengthen national security and support troops engaged in counter-insurgency operations, particularly in the North-East region.
