We Provide Over 2,000 Functional Boreholes Across Gombe State – RUWASSA

The General Manager of Gombe State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency RUWASSA Engineer Abdul-Raqeeb Muhammad Sa’id has assured that the Agency has rekiddle dashed hope of people of the state especially rural dwellers through its activities that have direct impact on the lives of the mases.

He stated this while speaking to newsmen in his office, attributing the achievements of the agency to the support being given by governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and prompt payment of counterpart funds, review and resigning of agreement with African Development Bank (AfDB).

“The AfDB also supports us with alot of intervention in education, health, water and skills training for youths”, he said.

He explained that RUWASSA drilled many boreholes across Gombe State. “I can authoritively tell you that RUWASSA under the Administration of Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has drilled and hand over more than 2000 functional solar, hand pump and motorized boholes in various communities across the state”.

“We also secured the approval of His Excellency to consider providing 400 metre bohole in Dukku, Akko and Balanga which was done successfully and people are happily enjoying it”, he added.

The general manager maintained that “We also embarked on upgrading of primary schools and primary healthcare centres as well as construction of headmaster’s and teachers’ houses in three selected schools across three senatorial zones of Gombe State.This includes Garko in Akko, Bangu in Balanga and Burari in Dukku local Government areas, which is first in history.

Apart from livelihood empowerment the general manager said the activities of the agency in Gombe State are yielding fruitful results, advising beneficiaries of the agency’s projects to imbibe the culture of taking ownership of the projects being provided for them by the agency as this will be advantageous to them to be enjoying the facilities for a very long period of time.

He assured that there are a lot of plans in the coming year, 2024, as all their assessments need is on ground, so they will do all what is humanly possible in redoubling their efforts to record higher achievement than those of outgoing year, especially with the coming of two new agencies PEWASH and SUWASH will be sister agencies to RUWASSA and GOSEPA with a different mandate of bringing development to Gombe State.

Engineer Abdul-Raqeeb appreciated Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s recent executive order on Small Town Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, maintaining that “It will help in bringing a lot of development to our local government”.
