The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced that the ongoing nationwide strike will continue pending the outcome of its meeting scheduled for today, Tuesday. The strike, which began on Monday, is demanding an increase in the national minimum wage.
Although the Federal Government convened a meeting with the labour unions on Monday evening, agreeing to pay a minimum wage above N60,000, the NLC has insisted that the strike will continue until its organs meet and review the development.
In a statement posted on its X handle early Tuesday, the NLC said, “Until we hear from our organs at our meeting scheduled for today 4th June, we are still on strike.”
The meeting, which is expected to review the government’s offer, will determine the next course of action for the labour unions. The strike has paralyzed economic activities across the country, with workers demanding a fair minimum wage.
