Women’s Day: Their Gain Our Progress – Governor Fintiri

The Adamawa State Governor, the Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has commended the role Nigerian women play towards the growth and development of the country.

The commendation comes as Women globally celebrate 2024’s  International Women’s Day with the theme “Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress.”  Governor Fintiri stated that ‘The progress of Women is the gain of the entire country. ” Adding that “there can be no true progress without gender equality.”

While thanking Women for playing their rightful and equal role in Nigeria over the years, he expressed his wish for a happy celebration of the day for them.

Governor Fintiri noted that nothing will be left to chance towards addressing the persistent barriers to women empowerment such as domestic conflicts, Gender Based Violence, malnutrition/stunting and unpaid care work.

“Celebrating women’s day is an opportunity to reflect on their role in the country’s holistic transformation and achievements made as well as to set up measures to keep the pace.”
He said the Government of Adamawa State has embarked on the journey towards gender equality and women empowerment thereby allowing women to exercise their full potential in playing a role in the re-engineering process.

“Adamawa’s remarkable progress in promoting gender equality and women empowerment is a result of the strong commitment and the highest political will of our Government.

Our resolve to empower ten thousand more women with a 50 thousand cash grant each in our Poverty Alleviation Programme christened “Fintiri Business Wallet” on March 8th 2024 is no coincidence but a deliberate move to rekindle hope in them by making them economically prosperous and true help meets in the families.”

The International Women’s Day was established by the UN in 1972 to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
