The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Governor Yahaya briefed the President on the significant developments in Gombe State under his stewardship over the past five years.
Speaking to State House Correspondents after the meeting, Governor Yahaya highlighted his administration’s strategic planning and deliberate approach to governance since his assumption of office in 2019. He expressed pride in the accomplishments of his administration, noting substantial progress in enhancing the quality of life for Gombe State residents.
“We have achieved a lot in all sectors, including health, education, infrastructure, social development, and economic investment drive. I am very proud of what we have accomplished over the last five years,” Governor Yahaya stated.
Regarding electricity supply challenges in Gombe and neighboring states, Governor Yahaya revealed that his government is taking necessary steps to boost electricity supply. He added that North-East Governors are working together to generate 10 Megawatts of solar power to overcome persistent electricity challenges.
On education, Governor Yahaya emphasized the need to address the issue of out-of-school children, stating that Governors in the Northern part of the country are committed to providing education and tackling this menace.
Furthermore, Governor Yahaya expressed support for state police, believing it will bring security closer to the people and enable swift decision-making. He is confident that many states in Nigeria will follow suit.
