Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has taken swift action to address the pressing issue of water scarcity by directing the immediate distribution of diesel to power all boreholes in Damaturu and its surroundings.
The move comes in response to the challenges faced by residents of Damaturu, who have been grappling with water shortages exacerbated by inadequate electricity supply following the sabotage of a 330KVA power line by vandals.
Baba Malam Wali, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), confirmed the governor’s directive, stating, “The governor has ensured the availability of diesel for distribution to facilitate the operation of all boreholes in the affected areas,” assuring the public that the water scarcity problem would be promptly addressed.
Residents can expect a resumption in the pumping and distribution of water to various parts of Damaturu and its environs as the state government takes proactive measures to mitigate the impact of the recent water crisis.
