The Yobe State government has conducted funeral prayers for 34 victims killed in the recent attack on Mafa community by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
Deputy Governor Idi Barde-Gubana led the government delegation on Tuesday and sympathized with the victims, promising to work closely with the Federal Government to establish a military formation in the area to prevent further attacks.
The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has been directed to provide aid to displaced persons and those injured in the attack.
Eyewitnesses described the attack as the worst in the state since the Boko Haram insurgency began 14 years ago, with estimates suggesting over 125 people were killed.
The state government has donated N30 million to affected families and pledged to collaborate with security personnel to establish a military presence in the area.
