Yobe Govt Distributes Vehicles, Motorcycles to Boost Security Operations

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has reaffirmed that security of lives and property remains the topmost priority of his administration.

Buni stated this on Tuesday in Damaturu during the official commissioning and distribution of 47 four-wheel drive vehicles and 50 motorcycles to various security agencies operating in the state.

The governor expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the security agencies for their continuous support in maintaining peace and security across Yobe.

“Let me seize this opportunity to appreciate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for the support in ensuring that we have peace and security in Yobe State,” Buni said.

“I also wish to express our profound gratitude to the men and officers of the security agencies, members of the vigilante groups, and hunters for their dedication and gallantry in providing security across the state,” he added.

According to him, the distribution of logistics is part of deliberate efforts by the state government to enhance the operational capacity of security personnel.

“The purpose of today’s occasion is to step up government’s efforts towards supporting security agencies to enable them carry out their duties effectively and efficiently,” the governor said.

The distribution list includes one vehicle each to the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of the 17 Local Government Areas, the State Police Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Others are the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), who also received one vehicle each.

Additionally, the 17 local government chairmen received one vehicle each to aid security operations in their areas, while 50 motorcycles were distributed across various agencies.

Governor Buni directed all local government chairmen to take responsibility for the maintenance of vehicles allocated to the police in their respective areas.

Earlier in his remarks, the Special Adviser on Security Affairs to the Governor, Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), commended the governor for his consistent support to security agencies.

He noted that the state government has remained steadfast in providing logistics, accommodation, and other forms of support to security operatives.

Abdulsalam assured that the vehicles would be used judiciously to enhance security and ensure peace across the state.
