The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has destroyed several cartons of alcoholic beverages seized during its operations, in accordance with a court order and the commission’s mandate to uphold moral conduct under Shari’ah law.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the commission’s spokesman, Sibawaihi Ukasha Gashua, on Sunday in Gashu’a.
According to the statement, the destruction exercise followed an order granted by the Lower Shari’ah Court, which authorized the disposal of the seized items intercepted on October 8, 2025.
Ukasha said the alcoholic drinks were confiscated from a J5 vehicle that departed from Jos, Plateau State. He added that both the suspects and the exhibits were taken before the court, where judgment was delivered in line with the provisions of Islamic law.
“The Hisbah Commission remains steadfast in its commitment to enforcing moral standards and eradicating acts deemed immoral in the society,” the spokesman stated.
He reaffirmed the commission’s resolve to continue working with relevant authorities to promote discipline, morality, and social order in Yobe State.
