Men of the Yobe State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agents, have arrested 30 suspects for criminal conspiracy, trespass, theft and homicide. Daily Trust reports.
The spokesman of the command, Dungus Abdulkarim, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the suspects were arrested after a series of complaints from the residents of Damaturu and other LGAs of the resurgence of burglary and theft after the command and its sister security agencies intensified raids and patrol of criminal hideouts.
He said that among the culprits were two suspected killers of one Haruna Moh’d of Hausari Ward, Damaturu, who attempted to apprehend a fleeing culprit who broke into a house and stole cellphones and some valuables.
He further said the two murder suspects, Moh’d Garba, alias Sara Dikko (25) and Ibrahim Moh’d, alias Boy (22), confessed to using a knife to stab the victim to death.
He said the other 28 suspects were responsible for the resurgence of burglary and theft and that they were arrested with exhibits like knives and cellphones.
He noted that most of the suspects were ex-convicts.
