Three vigilantes have been arrested for their involvement in criminal conspiracy, trespass, and burglary, as well as receiving and trading in stolen goods in Damaturu, Yobe State.
According to a statement by the spokesman of the Yobe State Police Command on Tuesday, DSP Dungus Abdulkareem, the arrest follows a distress call received from a shop owner in Damaturu, who had employed the vigilantes for guard duty.
Abdulkareem stated that the suspects were arrested after the shop owner reported an issue.
He said they were initially hired to protect the premises but were found to be involved in criminal activities instead.
He said a Police investigation led to the arrest of Ibrahim Mohammed, 24, and Hassan Umar, 25, who were found in possession of some stolen materials, adding that the suspects implicated another vigilante in the crime, who was also arrested.
