Yobe State Emerges as Africa’s Rising Hub for Science and Research

A group of international scientists from esteemed institutions has hailed Yobe State as a burgeoning hub for science and research in Africa.

The scholars, who visited the state for a Summer School training program on Friday, praised Governor Mai Mala Buni for his support and establishment of the Biomedical Training and Research Center at Yobe State University.

The center has hosted three successful summer school training sessions, attracting 450 medical professionals, scientists, and researchers from across Africa. The program featured workshops on artificial intelligence, malaria research, and brain disease research, led by renowned professors.

The visiting scientists, including Professors Sharon (USA), Amadi (South Africa), Sadiq Yusuf (Vice Chancellor, Newgate University), and Yaw (Ghana), commended Governor Buni’s commitment to promoting science and research, predicting that Yobe State will become a premier destination for science and research tourism.

Governor Buni reiterated his administration’s dedication to supporting the research center, ensuring its growth into a center of excellence. He highlighted his recent visit to prominent research institutes in the UK, seeking partnerships in research and training, particularly on kidney disease affecting parts of the state.

The Vice Chancellor of Yobe State University, Prof. Mala Daura, expressed gratitude for the governor’s continuous support, while Mamman Mohammed, DG Press and Media Affairs, conveyed the governor’s message.
