The Yobe State Pilgrims Commission has disbursed N179.8 million in subsidy to 1,332 pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage. The subsidy, approved by Governor Mai Mala Buni, amounts to N135,000 per pilgrim as Basic Travelling Allowance.
According to the Chairman of the Commission, Alh. Mai Aliyu, all pilgrims and officials have been successfully airlifted to Saudi Arabia, with most already in Makkah, while a few remain in Medina.
The commission has secured hotel accommodations within walking distance to the holy mosques in Medina and Makkah to facilitate the pilgrims’ religious obligations.
Governor Buni commended the commission and airliners for their efficient service and urged the commission to prioritize the welfare of the pilgrims. He also advised the pilgrims to conduct themselves peacefully and perform the Hajj in accordance with the tradition of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The governor prayed for the safe return of the pilgrims and for Allah to accept their religious obligations and prayers.
