The 40th Adamawa State Qur’anic Recitation Competition (Musabaqa) has ended in Yola with prizes and awards presented to outstanding participants who excelled in various categories of the event.
The week-long competition, which drew participants from the 21 local government areas of the state, concluded on Saturday with a colourful closing ceremony held at Fadafatis Event Centre, Jimeta, in Yola North Local Government Area.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Steering Committee and Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful conclusion of the 2025 (1447 AH) edition of the Musabaqa.
Yayaji said the competition was not merely a contest but a platform for promoting devotion, discipline, and Islamic scholarship among the youth.
“This Musabaqa is not just a contest, but a celebration of devotion, discipline, and the enduring heritage of Islam. It inspires our youth to draw closer to the Book of Allah — to recite it beautifully, understand its meanings, and live by its guidance,” he stated.
He commended the judges, scholars, sponsors, and community leaders for their roles in ensuring the success of the programme. He also extended appreciation to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his consistent support for religious and educational activities across the state.
The Commissioner further encouraged participants to continue upholding the moral and spiritual teachings of the Holy Qur’an in their daily lives.
The ceremony, which attracted scholars, traditional leaders, government officials, and members of the public, featured the presentation of prizes and awards to winners who distinguished themselves in Qur’anic memorisation, tajwīd (recitation), and interpretation.
The Adamawa State Qur’anic Recitation Competition is an annual event designed to promote excellence in Qur’anic knowledge and foster unity among Muslim communities in the state.
