The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) has officially inaugurated its new Speaker, principal officers, and members of the House, marking the commencement of the parliament’s 4th Republic.
The ceremony took place in Gombe State, where Safiyanu Danladi Mairiga, representing Akko North, was sworn in as the Speaker of the Assembly. Christian Gideon Musa from Billiri East was inaugurated as Deputy Speaker.
In his address, Speaker Mairiga pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that the voice of the youth is heard in the corridors of power. He emphasized the need for collective efforts in addressing the various challenges facing young people, including unemployment, insecurity, and access to quality education.
Deputy Speaker Musa reiterated the YAN’s commitment to providing a platform for young people in the state to harness their potential and be empowered for a prosperous future. He promised to support the Speaker and other members of the Assembly in delivering on the expectations of the youth.
Stakeholders of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, who attended the event, expressed optimism about the future of the Assembly under the leadership of Mairiga.
They praised the resilience and leadership qualities of the newly inaugurated officers, urging them to remain focused on their goals and to never lose sight of the pressing needs of young people in the state.
