The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 15 suspects for various crimes, including criminal conspiracy, theft, housebreaking, and criminal misappropriation, during its festive patrol operations in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed.
Wakil said the operation was conducted by officers from the GRA Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Holman Simon, in collaboration with quasi-security outfits.
He said the suspects were apprehended during a burglary attempt in the Wuntin Dada area of Bauchi at about 3:00 a.m. on Dec. 25.
“The suspects attempted to flee to their rented accommodation upon sighting the police operatives, but they were pursued and arrested,” he said.
The suspects are:

According to the statement, several stolen items were recovered during the operation, including:
Eight assorted knives
Two electric stabilizers
Two car batteries
Three cartons of Maltina
One carton of Fearless Juice
One carton of Coca-Cola
One carton of Miranda
Fifty bottles of cough syrup
Household items, such as pillows, mattresses, prayer mats, and cooking utensils.
Wakil said a 14-year-old boy, Usman Ali, was also arrested after breaking into a mobile phone shop in Magama Gumau and stealing 18 mobile phones.
“The suspect was arrested in Bauchi following credible intelligence, and all the stolen items were recovered. The shop owner has been contacted to reclaim the items,” he said.
The police spokesperson assured the public that all suspects were being profiled and would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
He added that the Commissioner of Police reiterated his commitment to safeguarding lives and property during the festive season and beyond.
“The Commissioner thanked residents of Bauchi State for their cooperation and urged them to continue supporting the police in their efforts to ensure a peaceful environment,” Wakil said.
