
The Zing Traditional Council in Taraba State has suspended the traditional title of Ɗan Malikin Zing conferred on popular philanthropist and entrepreneur, Dr. Saleem Iliyasu Goje, citing security-related concerns.
Dr. Goje, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Dan Mama Smart Homes Limited and widely known as Jagoran Mambilla, was reportedly suspended following recommendations from relevant authorities regarding potential threats to public peace and traditional sanctity.
The Council, in a brief statement made available to Insight Northeast on Thursday, stated that the suspension was in the interest of safeguarding the community and maintaining the integrity of the traditional institution.
“The Zing Traditional Council has with immediate effect suspended the title of Ɗan Malikin Zing held by Dr. Saleem Iliyasu Goje, pending further investigations. This decision was reached based on security intelligence and consultations with stakeholders,” the statement read.
The Council did not provide further details but assured the public that it would continue to act in accordance with established norms and in the best interest of the chiefdom.
As of the time of filing this report, Dr. Goje has not issued an official response.
