Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has approved the appointment of Prof. Yakubu Yunusa Musa as the new Executive Chairman of the Borno State Hajj Commission.
The Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Malam Dauda Iliya, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Maiduguri.
Musa, a Professor of Arabic Studies from Shani Local Government Area, succeeds Alhaji Mohammed Dawule Mainok.
Before his appointment, Musa was the Director of the International Institute for Qur’anic Sciences at Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano, and had served as a member of the Borno State Arabic and Sangaya Education Board.
The statement described him as a distinguished scholar and administrator who has held several academic and leadership positions within and outside the university system.
Zulum expressed gratitude to the outgoing chairman for his service to the state and directed him to report to the Office of the Head of Service as Permanent Secretary.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Borno State House of Assembly.
