Zulum dissolves Borno Executive Council

Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the immediate dissolution of the Borno State Executive Council to enable members who intend to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections to do so.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, on Monday.

According to the statement, the decision was taken to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council wishing to participate in elective contests during the upcoming elections.

The governor directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before Friday, April 3, 2026.

Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication and commitment to the development of Borno State and the service of its people.

He commended their contributions to governance and acknowledged their efforts in supporting the administration’s development initiatives across the state.

The dissolution of the executive council is in line with established procedures that allow political appointees seeking elective offices to disengage from official duties ahead of election activities.
